Focaccia Bread Recipe
Category: Italian Bread Recipes
A very simple and easy to make recipe. Use toppings to enhance the flavour.
Ingredients of the Recipe:
2 cups all purpose flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 4 tablespoons olive oil divided, 1/2 teaspoon honey, 1 quarter ounce packet active of dry yeast, 2/3 cup warm water at 110 degrees F.
Method of Preparation:
Dissolve honey and yeast in warm water in a bowl and let it stand until the mixture becomes creamy. Add a cup of flour, salt and 3 tablespoons olive oil to the yeast mixture. Stir the mixture well and make sure it gets mixed thoroughly. Knead the dough for some time until it becomes smooth, elastic and soft. Add flour but just enough so as to prevent the dough from being too sticky. Place the dough in a large bowl but oil the bowl from the inside. Turn the dough upside down in the bowl to coat with oil. Use a damp cloth to cover the dough. Let it rest in a warm place and allow the dough to rise until it doubles in volume. Remove the air from the dough by pressing it. Put it on a lightly floured surface. Form a rectangle from the dough that isĀ 1/2 inch thick. Place the rectangle on a baking sheet. Cover the dough and let it rise until it doubles in volume. In the mean time, heat the oven to 400 degrees F. Form small potholes or dimples on the surface of the bread and apply a tablespoon of the olive oil on the top. Let the bread get baked in the oven at 400 degrees for 15 minutes.
