 Italian Bread Baked on a Pizza Stone

Delicious bread made in bread machine.

Ingredients of the Recipe:

2 tablespoons cornmeal, 1 tablespoo water, 1 egg, a 1/4 ounce packet of active dry yeast, 1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil, 1 1/2 teaspoons salt, 1 1/3 cups warm water, 1 tablespoon light brown sugar and 3 cups unbleached flour.

Method of preparation:

Put olive oil, brown sugar, warm water, flour, salt and yeast in the bread making machine as suggested by the manufacturer. Select the dough cycle and Start the machine. Place the pizza stone in the oven and heat it to 375 degrees F. The oven should be heated for atleast 30 minutes prior to baking. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface after deflating it. Form two loaves out of the dough. The loaves should be placed seam side down on a cutting board and cornmeal should be sprinkled. The loaves should be covered with a damp cloth and allowed to rise until it becomes double of the original volume. This should take around 40 minutes. Beat together egg and 1 tablespoon water in a bowl.Use this mixture to brush the risen loaves. Make a single long cut in the center of the loaves using a knife. Make sure that the loaves are not sticking to the board. If they are sticking, use a spatula to loosen it. Slide the loaves onto the pizza stone carefully. Bake the loaves in heated oven for 30 to 35 minutes.
