Ingredients of the Recipe:
6 cups bread flour, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon onion powder, 2 cups warm water at 110 degrees F, 2 tablespoons white sugar, 1/4 cup olive oil, 1 tablespoon salt, 1 tablespoon dried basil, 1 tablespoon dried oregano, 1/2 cup grated Romano cheese and 2 quarter ounce packets of active dry yeast.
Method of Preparation:
Mix yeast, warm water and white sugar together in a large bowl and set the mixture aside until the mixture becomes foamy. Add olive oil, salt, herbs, garlic powder, onion powder, cheese and 3 cups of flour and stir the yeast mixture. Slowly add the next three cups of flour to the mixture. The dough thus formed will be stiff. Knead the dough until it becomes smooth and rubbery. Place the dough in a well oiled bowl and turn it upside down to cover the surface of the dough with oil. Use a damp linen dish towel to cover the dough. Placeit aside and allow it to rise until the dough doubles in volume. Press down the dough to remove all the air in it. Form two loaves out of the dough and place the loaves on a greased cookie sheet. Allow them to rise until they double in volume. Bake the loaves at 350 degrees F for 35 minutes. Remove loaves from the oven and cool on wire racks for 15 minutes before cutting them into slices.
