Oatmeal Molasses Bread Recipe
Category: Italian Bread RecipesThis is my favorite bread with molasses, milk and oatmeal.
Ingredients
Molasses (1/2c), all purpose flour (4 ½ to 5c), active dry yeast (2package), warm water (1/2c), scalded milk (1 1/2c), shorting (1/3c) and quick cooking rolled oats (2c).
Method of preparation:-
Take a small bowl, mix yeast and warm water in it and keep it aside. Put shortening, salt and molasses in a bowl and pour scalded milk over it. Mix it until shortening melts. Cool it and then add 1 cup of flour, oats and yeast. Then make soft dough of this mixture, knead the dough on lightly floured surface until it gets smooth and elastic for about 10 minutes. Take a buttered bowl, place the dough on it and then grease it from both sides. Cover it with dish cloth and keep it in warm place to double in size for about 1 hour. Form the two loaves of this dough. Place these loaves in a loaf pan and brush with melted butter. Cover it and again keep it for 1 hour to double in size and then bake for 35 to 40 minutes at 375 degrees. Again brush it with melted butter for soft crust.
